5 Things I Have Learned About Blogging & My 1st Year Blogiversary

One year ago {today} I launched Simply Organize Life and man, what a journey it has been. To celebrate this awesome day, I decided to make myself a cake-in-a-cup, because one simply cannot celebrate something without cake :p. Cheers and happy Blogiversary to me!

5-Things-I-Have-Learned-In-My-First-Year-of-Blogging-Simply-Organize-Life

Without getting emotional and all mushy, here is a list of 5 things I have learned in my first year of blogging:

// ONE – WHAT YOU PUT IN, IS WHAT YOU WILL GET OUT //

I don’t think I really have to add to this statement if you work hard – you will see the results. To be totally honest, this is probably the biggest lesson I have learned in my blogging journey. I worked hard to get my blog to where it is today, but I haven’t put that much effort into producing the content that I wanted to. This aspect is a bit bitter-sweet for me.

// TWO – GREAT IMAGES WILL INCREASE YOUR TRAFFIC //

People love good images if you browse Pinterest or Instagram you are automatically drawn to beautiful imagery. This is the one thing that kept my traffic going throughout the entire year. My greatest source of traffic this year came from Pinterest and that is purely a visual platform. There is always ways to improve your images, so go ahead and practice, practice, practice.

// THREE – STAY TRUE TO WHO YOU ARE //

This is so important in blogging. Every blogger, at one stage or another, falls into the trap of looking at other people’s work and thinking that they would like to be like that person or have the same blog etc. I have done that a million times, but then I came to the realization that the truer I stay to myself and my own personal style of writing, images, and design – the more I enjoy keeping my blog up-to-date.

// FOUR – LEARN TO HAVE FUN //

We all need a little laughter and fun in our lives. Like the other day, my husband and I played hide-and-seek in our second floor 2 bedroom apartment, which might sound so silly, but we really did have the times of our lives. Bringing back all those childhood memories. The same way I had to learn to see my blog as something fun to express myself in a unique way.

// FIVE – MAKE IT PERSONAL //

People relate people, not just random ramblings or information driven blog posts. This is something I am yet to learn. I am very practical and logical person, so it is easy for me to just give hints and tips, but not so easy to get more personal about my own journey in organizing. That is one big change I would like to make in the year to come – is to get more personal and relatable.
